Digital Revolutions

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has teamed up with leading documentary film festival Sheffield Doc/Fest to deliver its Digital Revolutions competition <

Any learners attending a UK online centre and keen to learn something new or put their newfound skills to the test should think about entering. All that’s needed for your learners to be in with a chance of winning the top prize of £10,000 is to make a short film (no more than 3 minutes) that gives a snapshot of how technology or information has impacted on your life. Early entries will automatically be put into a prize draw to win an iPad.

A new and exciting role is available for a skilled and knowledgeable individual. This multi faceted role will include funding, management, support and development of staff and services workingwithin the Middlesbrough community. The responsibility of the role is reflected in the salary of 30K.

Operations Manager

 

Job description

 

  • Support the CEO in the development of the services of the Hope Foundation in line with the strategic business, operational and financial plans

  • Ensure the vision and mission of the organisation is achieved and the values of the organisation are maintained.

  • Ensure the provision of a culture and environment that is supportive and welcoming for the community it serves.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the centre and co-ordination of staff and resources

  • Manage the scheduling of work and delivery responsibilities and use of physical resources

  • Ensure the staff have the necessary information, skills and knowledge they need to carry out their roles effectively and to the required standard

  • Monitor project delivery and produce action plans and reports for the management team and other staff as required

  • Attend partnership, project monitoring and networking meetings with external organisations as appropriate.

  • Ensure the quality of the service delivery through monitoring and evaluation analysis

  • Support and supervise staff and identify training needs

  • Produce an annual Internal Staff Training Plan

  • Work with the CEO to identify future training delivery, financial opportunities and benefits to the community and the organisation.

  • Ensure a quality service and compliance with the relevant bodies, accreditation and quality initiatives is maintained. This would include exam boards, Ofsted, IIP, Matrix, Positive about Disabled People and others.

  • Co-ordinate the recruitment, review and appraisal process to support the management committee

  • Be proactive in the development and delivery of the operational plan

  • Work in a mentee relationship with the CEO to identify areas for personal development in order to gain the skills and knowledge to take up additional responsibilities for the benefit of the organisation

 

Personal Profile

 

  • Must be sensitive to and able to maintain the ethos and values of The Hope Foundation

  • Must have good interpersonal skills and an ability to mix with and understand people from a wide variety of backgrounds

  • Must have leadership and motivational skills with management experience

  • Must have good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise

  • Must have good communication skills and be approachable

  • Must have a degree or relevant qualification to the role

  • Must have a good knowledge of the issues facing small and medium voluntary sector organisations and the wider VCS

  • Will preferably will have previous experience of quality marks and standards such as IIP and Ofsted

  • Will preferably have previous experience and understanding of Adult Learning and accreditation

  • Will preferably have previous experience of working in partnership and networking

  • Must be able to write reports and produce quality documents

  • Must have experience and an understanding of project management

  • Must be able to work within and monitor budgets and targets

  • Must be sensitive to the needs of the community and individuals and be able to identify issues and possible solutions

  • Must be able to manage change and conflict situations

Join the  e–panel  and help improve services.

Middlesbrough Council are launching a new e-panel to give residents the opportunity to have their say on a whole range of local issues.  The e-panel will run alongside their very successful Voiceover citizens’ panel.

The Council are looking for around 1000 Middlesbrough residents  who are willing to spare some time to take part in email and web-based surveys around 3 times a year.  These surveys will examine a wide range of local issues that affect local residents such as  anti-social behaviour, crime, transport, and climate change.

To join the e-panel you must be a resident of Middlesbrough, 16 years or over and have an e mail address which they can use to contact you.
